Passacaglia per cello e cembalo (1999) is a polyrhythmic study for Baroque cello and harpsichord. The passacaglia theme appears throughout the piece in various melodic settings realized by three independ voices in their own independent tempos.

Starting with an intimate cello pizzicato solo, the piece gradually evolves into an affective dialogue between cello and harpsichord, eventually reaching a virtuosic climax in the long tradition of the passacaglia.

Passacaglia per cello e cembalo (1999) on polyrytminen tutkielma barokkisellolle ja cembalolle. Kappaleessa toistuva passacaglia-teema esiinty niin lineaarisessa melodisessa muodossaan kuin vertikaalisesti harmoniaan hajautettuna edeten itsenäisesti eri äänissä omissa autonomisissa tempoissaan.

Teos kasvaa alun intiimistä pizzicato-soinnunmurrosta intensiiviseksi dialogiksi sellon ja cembalon välillä toisintaen rakenteellisesti perinteisen passacaglian tyypillisintä dramaturgista muotoratkaisua, jossa virtuositeettia kasvatetaan kohti teoksen aikanaan päättävää vääjäämätöntä kliimaksia.
